
Sir Nigel Teare, a judge of distinguished standing and international recognition (UK, Singapore 2006-2026), arbitrator, and author, delivered a lecture on the 12th of May, 2026 as part of the celebratory events marking the 10th anniversary of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Law School, LL.M. Program in Maritime Law. Through a two-hour lecture, Sir Nigel Teare shared with postgraduate and doctoral students his extensive judicial experience and expertise drawn from ship collision cases, presenting in a coherent and systematic manner the principles developed in English jurisprudence on the subject. His presentation addressed the interpretation of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs), the apportionment of liability, and judicial practices in ship collision litigation.
